Common Goal

MUSC Hong Kong has become the world’s first supporter organisation to become a member of and make a pledge to Common Goal!

Co-founded by Manchester United player Juan Mata in August 2017, Common Goal calls upon professional footballers to pledge 1% of their income to fund high-impact organisations in tackling some of the greatest social challenges, such as HIV/AIDS and gender inequality through the power of football.

As of June 2018, over 90 professional footballers have made their pledge to Common Goal. Notable examples include Shinji Kagawa, Mats Hummels, Giorgio Chiellini and Kasper Schmeichel.

While as football fans we may not have the same level financial resources as professional footballers, we hope our involvement could lead to further participation from fans of the beautiful game to widen the reach of this wonderful project.

MUSC Hong Kong has made an initial contribution of 1% of its membership fee income for the 2017/18 season, and the entire funds raised at a charity auction in its members’ annual dinner held in June 2018. It further pledges to contribute 1% of all future membership fee income starting from the 2018/19 season.
